The Nova Sporting Clays Series Announces shoot dates. Lunenburg starts the series on May 06, then it's on to Kentville May 27 , Yarmouth June 09 and Finish up in Weymouth June 23/24. These events are 75 target of Sporting Clays. Each shoot will have a draw for the event firearm, and a minimum of three classes with prizes for the top three places in each class. ( Lewis System will be use to determine classes and winners. ) A " shooter of the year " will be chosen from all entries. Points are awarded bases on overall placing. ( if there are 100 shooters the top shot will receive 100 points, second place will get 99 points, third place 98 points and on down to the last place shooter. Ties will result in all ties getting the same point value for that score. )

A special limited edition commemorative hat will be presented to shooters that attend all four shoots.

The series gun, a Browning Citori Grade 7 over and under will be drawn for at the Weymouth shoot. A shooter will receive 1 ticket for the first shoot they attend, 2 for their second, 3 for their third with a possible 10 tickets if they attend all four shoots.

The series ends up with two day of shooting for those that can take the pounding. Saturday June 23 is a team event, maximum 12 teams of 5. They will shoot 100 Sporting Clays in the morning, break for the included lunch and then take part in some fun games designed to test your  shooting and your concentration in the afternoon. A steak BBQ and get together follows.

Sunday the conclusion of the series which is 75 sporting clays.

Important: The team event is limited to 12 teams, register your team early to avoid disappointment.

The only shoot scheduled for this month, It's a sporting clay shoot with 75 targets. For those of you that have an old gun you would like to dust off , here is your chance. There is a class with you in mind to enter you must have an unmodified ( no screw in chokes ) shotgun at least 50 years old. See poster

Fredericton is hosting a youth / novice (14-19 Years ) 50 sporting clays and 25 skeet on August 20.  Any club that may have shooters in this age group can contact Kyle Stairs. They are hoping to get a shooter from each club in the Maritimes. The cost is $15.00 and the shoot starts at 10:00 AM and is expected to finish at around 3:000 PM.

This past weekend was a busy time with the Canadians Skeet Championships on in Dartmouth and the Beretta Challenge on in Fredericton. I did attend the shoot in Fredericton with 174 shooters registered. I am awaiting the score from both events so I can post them, if anyone has them please forward them to papas@eastlink.ca

A word from Barry;

Just a quick note to finish up what I seemed to forget to say after the prize presentations on Sunday.  For some reason, I got a bit distracted from the agenda!  First I would like to thank the shooters that helped us on Sunday by pulling targets as the Search and Rescue team were a few members short.  In the morning it was Ben Barteaux and Brian Mason and in he afternoon Ronnie Pierce pitched in.  I am certain that I mentioned that next year Greenwood will not be participating in the series.  This is truly an unfortunate turn of events, as they have been with us from the very start, and it has been a pleasure working with them.  Again, thank you to Danny at Lequille Country Store - without his support it would be most difficult to continue.  Running a series like this would be a tremendous venture if he were not "on board".  Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank the rest of the series "crew" for all their work and dedication, as a good portion of the work putting on the series is done before and after each of the shooting events.  Once again, thank you for your participation in the series, and also the two-day event. Just abit of trivia but in the 10 years that we have been running the shoot series we have given away 50 guns. This year alone we gave away 8.  We will keep you updated as the finalized plans for next year take shape.

Just a reminder for those entering a team in the two day shoot of June 26, 27 and have not notified us yet.   Although we would like to have your registration fee it is more important to have your team names so we can be sure to have your steak ready for you. Kentville to host their annual Apple Blossom Shoot this weekend. This year they are adding a sporting clay course to the mix. You can shoot Regular Skeet, Regular Trap and Sporting Clays with a twist, any gun but a 12 gauge semi or over & under. Hope to c u all there.

We are fast approaching the start of the Nova Series Sporting Clays, April 10 th in Lunenburg. This is our first year in Lunenburg and this adds one shoot to the series. As before tickets are given out 1 for the first shoot you attend 2 for the second, 3 for the third and so on for a possible 15 tickets, if all 5 shoots are attended,  for the draw on the Browning over and under shotgun drawn for at the series end in Weymouth. There will be a 22 magnum rifle drawn for at each of the five shoots along with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in three " Lewis class " divisions. There are also raffles and  and other events to take place in. Everyone is entered into the " Shooter of the Year" where points are awarded according to your standing and combined for a total score at the series end. The fee for the shoots has been set at $35.00 for 75 targets with the exception of Greenwood where steel shot must be used.
